Thank You...for supporting the
2009 Carrousel of Shoppes
The fundraiser for the Memphis Oral School for the Deaf
hosted by Subsidium
To
all our friends and supporters,
It is with a heavy heart and much thought that the Subsidium Board of
Directors has come to the conclusion that the Carrousel of Shoppes will
not be held in 2010. This was a very difficult decision to make and was
not done without consultation from our Long Range Steering Committee and
Board of Directors.
In 1978 Subsidium held its first Carrousel, and we have held the Premier
show in Memphis for 32 years! In the last few years many other gift
shows such as ours have surfaced, making it difficult to compete and
continue to be as successful as in the past. However, Subsidium members
will always remain proud of our longstanding and fine reputation in the
community.
Considering the challenging economy and feedback from the merchants who
would not have been returning, makes it problematical that we could have
had a successful show this year. With all of this in mind, the Board
has met extensively over the last two months and discussed viable
alternatives. We are now in the process of evaluating a new fundraising
event and are excited about the new ideas for 2011.
We want to take this opportunity to thank all those, in whatever
capacity, who supported us and our Carrousel of Shoppes for so many
years – we couldn't have done it without you! All funds raised at
Carrousel provided scholarships for many hearing-impaired children at
Memphis Oral School for the Deaf. Over these last 32 years Subisidum
has given the school over $4.5 million. This is quite an
accomplishment, and due to the hard work and dedication of the ladies of
Subsidium!
